ESSENTIAL ANSWERS BEFORE ORDERING
All about our products
What is Maras salt?
A pink salt harvested by hand in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Peru. It doesn't come from the sea: an underground spring flows through a fossilized layer and fills about 3,000 ponds carved into the mountainside, one for each family in the village. The water evaporates in the sun, and the salt is collected with a shovel. This system predates the Incas. Read the article →
What is the difference with Himalayan salt?
Himalayan salt is extracted from a rock deposit, at the mine. Maras salt is deposited by solar evaporation in open-air pools. Both are pinkish, but the process and texture are completely different—and Maras is unrefined, so its color varies from one harvest to another. Read the article →
Black maca, how to use it?
One teaspoon in a smoothie, porridge, yogurt or pancake batter. Do not cook it: add it off the heat, otherwise it will become bitter. The taste is malty and slightly caramelized — start small, it's pronounced. Read the article →
Is Kuntu coffee organic?
No, and we prefer to state that upfront. The grower cultivates without chemicals, on small family plots at high altitude, but the coffee does not have organic certification and we do not present it as such. It is a dark roast Arabica, sought after for its body and chocolate notes. Read the article →
Where do your products come from?
From three valleys in Peru: Maras, above Cuzco, for salt; the Junín altiplano, at over 4,000 meters, for maca; Rodríguez de Mendoza, in Amazonas, for coffee. We buy directly and in small volumes from identified producers. Read the article →
