Smoked Maras Salt – 600 g Box

This smoked Maras salt in a 600 g box contains 99% pink Maras salt and Humo P-50 smoke flavouring. The box is an alternative to the bag for presenting the product or giving it as a gift.

When to use it

Red meat, pork, lamb, chicken. Baked potatoes, asparagus, eggplant, mushrooms. Salmon, tuna, octopus. And a pinch on butter or dark chocolate, if you want to see what it tastes like.

The Maras salt pans

At an altitude of 3,300 meters, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a subterranean saltwater spring feeds approximately 3,000 ponds dug into the mountainside. The water evaporates in the sun, the salt settles, and the families of Maras harvest it with shovels as they have done since pre-Incan times. Each pond belongs to a family in the village.

This is not sea salt: it comes from a fossil aquifer, which gives it its pinkish color and a less biting taste.
