Smoked Maras Salt – 600 g Pouch

This smoked Maras salt in a 600 g bag contains 99% pink Maras salt and Humo P-50 smoke flavouring. Choose the bag to add a smoky note to grilled meat, fish or vegetables.

When to use it

Red meats, pork, lamb, chicken. Baked potatoes, asparagus, eggplant, mushrooms. Salmon, tuna, octopus. And a pinch on butter or dark chocolate, if you want to see what it tastes like.

The Maras salt pans

At an altitude of 3,300 meters, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a salty underground spring feeds about 3,000 ponds carved into the mountainside. The water evaporates in the sun, the salt settles, and the families of Maras harvest it with shovels as they have done since pre-Inca times. Each pond belongs to a family in the village.

This is not sea salt: it comes from a fossil aquifer, which gives it its pink color and a less biting taste.
