Frequently Asked Questions

Maras salt

Why is it pink?

Because it doesn't come from the sea. The source that feeds the Maras salt ponds flows through a mineral-rich fossil layer, which gives it this hue. The color varies slightly from one harvest to another.

What's the difference between coarse grain and fine grain?

Coarse grain melts slowly: it's for grilling, baking, and salt mills. Fine grain dissolves immediately: it's the one that replaces table salt.

How to store it?

Away from humidity, with the bag tightly sealed. Salt doesn't expire, but it clumps if it gets damp.

Smoked salt, how is it smoked?

Our pink Maras salt contains smoke flavouring, which gives it smoky notes. Ideal for grilled meats, fish and roasted vegetables.

Kuntu coffee

Beans or ground?

Beans if you have a grinder: the aromas last significantly longer. Ground if you want to save time in the morning . For a French press, choose coffee beans and a coarse grind.

Which grind for my machine?

Espresso: fine. Moka pot: fine to medium. Filter and V60: medium. French press: coarse, 4 minutes infusion.

How long does it keep?

The bag is resealable. Keep it away from light and heat, never in the refrigerator. Once opened, ground coffee is at its best within three to four weeks.

Black maca

How to use it?

A teaspoon in a smoothie, porridge, yogurt, or pancake batter. It pairs well with banana, cocoa, and peanut butter.

Can it be cooked?

Maca can be used in hot or cold preparations and added to batter before cooking. Follow the instructions for use on the packaging.

What does it taste like?

Malty, slightly caramelized, with a hint of hazelnut. More pronounced than yellow maca.

Black, red or yellow: what's the difference?

Maca comes in several colours, including black, red and yellow. We offer black maca here.
