Black Maca Porridge
This is the simplest way to incorporate maca into a routine: it disappears into porridge, but its malty taste remains.
Ingredients — for 1
- 50g rolled oats
- 250ml milk, oat, or almond drink
- 1 teaspoon black maca
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 teaspoon peanut butter
- A pinch of salt
Preparation — 10 min
- Pour the oats, milk, and a pinch of salt into a small saucepan. Heat on low.
- Stir regularly for 5 to 7 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat. Mash the banana with a fork and stir it in with the peanut butter.
- Add the maca last, off the heat, and mix.
How to add the maca
Maca can be used in hot or cold preparations and added to batter before cooking. Follow the instructions for use on the packaging. In this recipe it is added at the end for easy mixing.
Dosage
Start with a level teaspoon. Black maca has a much stronger taste than yellow; if you add a tablespoon right away, that's all you'll taste. You can adjust it over time.
Other ways to use it
The same principle applies to a banana-cocoa smoothie, in yogurt, in pancake batter (added to the raw batter, not in the pan), or in a bowl of cottage cheese with honey.
